Yusen Logistics cites ‘solid investment’ for latest DAF fleet deal

- 30 new DAF CF 18-tonners join multinational shipping and logistics specialist

- Product evaluation and in-service experience results in greater DAF presence

- Outstanding DAF Dealer support from Brian Currie

- “…there were a number of key features in the deal that we required and DAF, again, has managed to deliver on all key operational parameters.” Robin Tate, Head of Fleet, Facilities & Procurement

Global shipping and logistics specialist, Yusen Logistics (UK), has described its latest fleet delivery from DAF Trucks as a ‘solid investment’ as the company increases its DAF presence with 30 new 18-tonne DAF CF 260 FA box-body and curtain-side rigids.

The new fleet was supplied by Brian Currie, DAF Dealer in Milton Keynes, with fleet management and maintenance support packages supplied by Hexagon Leasing.

Following extensive product evaluation, and with the benefit of excellent operational familiarity with current DAF vehicles, Yusen Logistics (UK) selected the market-leading DAF brand based on proven fuel economy, environmental credentials, strong residual values, driver appeal and outstanding nationwide dealer support – led by Brian Currie Milton Keynes and Northampton.

The new 30-strong fleet comprises 21 box-bodies supplied by BWS and nine curtain-siders from BWS with Dhollandia tuck away tail lifts, all fitted with additional safety features for driver safety and ease of delivery, and the latest generation Microlise telematics systems for vehicle tracking and monitoring of both vehicle and driver performance.

The fleet additions take the company’s UK fleet to 350 vehicles. The vehicles are already in service from Yusen Logistics’ 20 UK locations and are expected to cover 75,000 miles per year. Operations comprise primarily of deliveries of white- and brown-goods both to and from distribution centres and major retail outlets.

“The overall DAF package represents a solid investment for us,” said Robin Tate, Head of Fleet, Facilities & Procurement at Yusen Logistics (UK), “there were a number of key features in the deal that we required and DAF, again, has managed to deliver on all key operational parameters. Good fuel economy, reliability and first-rate dealer support are key attributes, of course,” he said, “but our drivers are instrumental in the acquisition process, and they invariably prefer DAF for all round comfort and driveability.”
