Scottish transport company, MLG, has won the DAF TSI Truck of the Year 2023 competition.
The honour belongs to the newest addition of MLG’s fleet: a custom-built DAF XF 530 FAN, equipped for treelogging on heavy terrain. The award was handed over on 14th March in Forres, Scotland.
MLG’s owner, Michael Graden, was closely involved in the process of assembling the vehicle. Using his extensive experience and expertise, he assembled the truck in MLG’s own workshop. The truck was built to be as robust as possible, considering the tough conditions in which it operates.
Additionally, special attention was paid to the finishing touches, making sure fragile components were protected under any conditions.
Ivor Stewart, Norscot’s Key Account Manager, guided MLG through the process of configuring and building the vehicle. He emphasised the importance of having the correct and complete bodybuilder information and technical specifications, available through TOPECIST, DAF TSI, and DAF BBI+.

The DAF sales information sources had a large contribution to successfully completing the build, Stewart stated.
Driver, Aaron, praises the DAF XF for its unparalleled driver comfort and performance: ‘Everything works perfectly and the truck is extremely comfortable, even in these heavy semi off-road circumstances, it’s incredible’, Aaron added. Adding the tyre deflation system improved manoeuvrability and safety during transport, as well as limiting the effects of the truck on the terrain.
‘This award is proof of our commitment to top tier quality and innovation’, adds Michael Graden, supported by his father, Marc Graden: ‘It also establishes the impeccable cooperation between DAF and Norscot, which enables us to offer our customers the best possible service.’
